1) Introduction : 

    Microsoft Power BI is Business Intelligence software used for creating interactive, immersive dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights from historical data and drive business results. The Power Bi software easily connects more than 80 + data sourcesvisualize what's important and share that with anyone or everyone who wants. 

1.1) Parts of Power BI

The Power BI tool comprises 3 parts given below;

  1. Power BI Desktop
  2. Power BI Service
  3. Mobile App

1] Power BI Desktop:  

    The raw data of enterprises can collect through a Power BI Desktop. It is an open-source application you can install on your computer and lets you collect data from different sources (datasets) and prepare reports on your data. The desktop helps you collect the number of reports on canvas and make a dashboard. The Cleaning of data task you can do in Power Query Editor.


2] Power BI Service : 
    Power BI is a Cloud-Based Service or Software As Service(SaaS). It is also known as Power BI Online. It enables anyone to visualize and analyze the data with greater efficiency, speed, and ease of interpretation. Due Power BI Service it is easy to share dashboards, reports, and visualizations with users.

1.2) The Flow Work  of Power BI:

  • Bring the data in Power BI Desktop & prepare reports and Dashboards.
  • Publish Reports and Dashboard on Power BI Service.
  • Share Dashboard with others.
  • View and interact with shared dashboard & reports in Power BI Mobile App.

2) Building Blocks of Power BI

Following are the Blocks of Power BI
  • Visualizations
  • Datasets
  • Reports
  • Dashboards
  • Tiles

Visualization: It is a visual representation of Data. Data represented in Pie Charts, Line Graphs, Treemap Etc.



Dataset: It is the collection of raw data from different sources. Ex. CSV File, Excel sheets, Cloud service data.



Reports: A report is a collection of visualizations that seem together on one or more pages.




Dashboards: A dashboard is a collection of visuals on a single page. The single page is also known as "Canvas". It's a selected group of visuals that provide quick insights into data or tell the story you are trying to present.



Tile: Tile is single visualization on a dashboard. It's a rectangular block that holds a single visual. In creating a dashboard you can move the tile to any location as per requirement.
